O Christmas Tree...!

What’s in a Christmas tree? Hopes for a happy year’s ending? Or the beginning of something new and fresh?

Each time I draw together pieces of glass to cut, smooth and place, I hope to begin something new and unique, non-standard, even, dare I say it, “imperfect.”

A perfect tree isn’t true to a natural habitat. It has flaws. Has repelled attacks. Yet, it is regarded as “just right,” and is adorned by the good works of its purchaser.

Each one, perfectly imperfect.

Is the Cross yet Green?

is the cross yet green? (Luke 23:31)

full of youth, full of its first fruited love

is there long-lingering life within its boughs

its branches?

is the cross yet green?

full of fat dripping as oil pressed under stone’s pressure?

is the cross yet green?

leafed profusely full as leaves for the healing of the nations?

the cross of Life

whittled from wood

shouldered by Jesus

embedded at Golgatha’s death gate

the cross of life

born from death

raised by God the Father

raised by Holy Spirit

the Son

life from the cross

the same yesterday, today, tomorrow

from Life, from the cross, from Christ comes

the solution to every issue

The House of Bread

born in Bethlehem

the “house of bread”

to become the “Bread of Life”

to all who eat of Him

His body, His flesh

the manna from Heaven

come from above

His body, His flesh

made at His Word

for all things were made through Him

His body, His flesh

that He might tabernacle

among us

for a time

His body, His flesh

the Temple

torn down

and rebuilt in three days

raised from the dead!

Can There Be Peace?

before us each and all

before us is the cross

of four points

centered is the Savior

of four Passover cups

drunken by the Savior

of four Gospels

spoken by the Savior

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John

who is this Savior?

He is the King, the Prince of Peace

this Lord and Mighty One

He is Jesus

He is before us each and all

before us each and all is the cross

pointing north south east and west

His Blood and Flesh given for us

for peace

“peace?”

“can there be peace?”

peace is only found in Him

not in arms, not in mighty men

no, peace is found in the way of Christ

and those who truly follow Him

with Christ

there is peace in the home,

and peace in the Church on every side

there is peace in the nation

and peace in the schools

there is peace on the borders

and there is peace abroad

with Christ all things are possible

and there can be peace

where peace has never ruled

lowly shepherds watching fleeced flocks

upon Bethlehem’s bread bought hills by night

God’s glory glowed around

here must first begin

before liberty’s lantern lifts again,

as a mother is agonized with birth

afterward forgets the pain

for the joy of a child gained

for Ichabod has conveyed his calling card

the Babe, born for us, the Son of God, the One and Only Prince of Peace

available to all, to any person, to any nation

who calls out this prayer

“Help me Jesus! Help me!”

What are you giving?

Christmas is here? It is in Stuart, Florida, where decorations are already up in shopping plazas prior to October 31st!

Most of the items incorporated in this wreath were given to me to make into something beautiful. And, I in turn gave this Christmas wreath to someone—Keri Burgess, Founder of The Farm Dog Rescue, a daughter who looks after a mother with dementia, an aunt who has helped her expecting niece, and a sister—who listens and helps.

Gift giving is important, whether we give our time, our expertise or our resources; what’s important is the giving. In fact, many like the receiver of this wreath, give everyday in our communities. They make the world a better place.
