The Mosaic

This Place

August 16, 2023 Kelly Jadon

Pinky! A Gulf Dolphin--multi-dimensional mosaic of layered fused glass; Kelly Jadon, 2023, For Sale: Available at Sand & Sea Boutique: 3291 NE Indian River Drive, Jensen Beach

This place is where i came to

i remember

where God’s power roars

beating against rock strewn with holes

driven over by sea and salt

its taste touches my tongue

my lips

blurring ink upon paper

like tears and wet mascara

a distant ship edges over morning’s horizon

bahama bound

gently, winter’s waves gentle to calm

a hello peaks

the curve of rise and dive

rise and dive repeats, repeats

the quiet greeting

the hello each morn

dolphins near the shore

The House of Bread

June 9, 2022 Kelly Jadon

Nativity, Sea Glass Mosaic, Kelly Jadon, 2022, No longer available

born in Bethlehem

the “house of bread”

to become the “Bread of Life”

to all who eat of Him

His body, His flesh

the manna from Heaven

come from above

His body, His flesh

made at His Word

for all things were made through Him

His body, His flesh

that He might tabernacle

among us

for a time

His body, His flesh

the Temple

torn down

and rebuilt in three days

raised from the dead!

Beneath the Cross

June 2, 2022 Kelly Jadon

Photo Credit: Kelly Jadon, Beneath the Cross, 2022

beneath the cross

ignorant men

gambling for something they could not keep

just as He did not keep them at His death

“Father, forgive them” He prayed

instead

beneath the cross

the ignorant watched and waited

then one proclaimed

“truly He was the Son of God!”

His life His own

Spirit given up

instead

beneath the cross

the pagans who dealt in death

erected life to leave from cross’s cruelish crucifixion

received their pay

while He —Savior for all who called His Name

paid for their sins

instead

The Way of Peace

February 25, 2022 Kelly Jadon

Peace by Kelly Jadon 2022

Peace, Peace, Peace

the angels proclaimed

Words of God to

sons of men

lowly shepherds watching fleeced flocks

upon Bethlehem’s bread bought hills by night

God’s glory glowed around

Peace, Peace, Peace

the angels proclaimed

between God and man

between men and Maker

here must first begin

before liberty’s lantern lifts again,

as a mother is agonized with birth

afterward forgets the pain

for the joy of a child gained

for Ichabod has conveyed his calling card

Peace Peace Peace

the angels proclaimed

yet remains

“Abide in Me”

security in the home, marriage, pocket

harmony of lives lived nearby

wholeness of body

soundness of mind

Peace in this life and

Peace at death

Peace for today

and Peace for tomorrow

Peace for you

and Peace for your children

Peace, Peace, Peace

the angels proclaimed

the Babe, born for us, the Son of God, the One and Only Prince of Peace

available to all, to any person, to any nation

who calls out this prayer

“Help me Jesus! Help me!”

Peace Peace Peace

“Peace I leave you,

My peace I give you;

not as the world gives,

do I give to you.

do not let your hearts be troubled

nor in fear”

(Luke 2:14; Isaiah 9:6; 1Samuel 4:21; John 14:27)

(C) Kelly Jadon, 2021 “Blue Hummer” SOLD

the high place

inside limbs

above boughs

shrouded by leaves

leaves her with a new view

viewing what is

hidden behind leaves hiding

camouflage

hummer’s hues

the high place

inside limbs

above boughs

shrouded by leaves

leaves her hidden

hiding herself

camouflaged

blond hair

green eyes

barefoot & sunkissed brown

the view from high up

up high where

michigan green-crabbed apples grew

into her hand

a few

flew

as if falling far

at passersby below

pedestrians on beaten dirt

made smooth

a summer’s pastime

time passing

day by sun-kissed day

so brief

the view

inside limbs

above boughs

shrouded by leaves

the high place

Life Lifts: An Ekphrastic Poem

September 22, 2021 Kelly Jadon
(C) Kelly Jadon, 2021 From “Hummer in Flight”

(C) Kelly Jadon, 2021 From “Hummer in Flight”

Life Lifts

life lifts and flits wings on air

elsewhere

where royal rose’s hues rejoice

petal lips turned back

stigma brimming

wide, waiting, a wonder

life lifts and flits words

elsewhere

where royal golden crowns thrown down

before peace shod, two-holed feet

words pointed heavenward

on rosy lips

wide, waiting, in wonder

The Sylph: An Ekphrastic Poem

(C) Kelly Jadon, 2021, “Sylph” from “Hummer in Flight”

The Sylph

slender sylph picks and preens

himself

as if preparing for a selfie

his deep dark turquoise vert greens

languishing from crown

along the length of a heavy-forked tail

wings lifted, opening out

he lives

though not for himself

but for the one love

he calls to

for her

he sings

for her

he whizzes

his tail

as a comet

breaking loose night’s still sky

The Signal

(C) Kelly Jadon, 2021 from “Hummers Delight”

September’s strange winds, dimming days, falling flowers

signal

migration

each solitary hummer born bird

wings over water

catching tail winds, skimming tree tops

a simple New World snowbird

dares mountain peaks turned southward

returning to winter’s roost

orchid and silk trees

emboldened by rosy blooms

transplants of Asia firmly rooted to sandy soil

twittering upon full-leafed boughs

until heat’s humidity hails

the signal

to lift limbs

solitarily

wing its way northward

skimming tree tops

catching tail winds

over waters

past mountain peaks

and begin again

Together: An Ekphrastic Poem for "Hummers Delight"

September 2, 2021 Kelly Jadon
(C) Kelly Jadon, Front View, “Hummers Delight”

(C) Kelly Jadon, Front View, “Hummers Delight”

TOGETHER

a bouquet blooms with breeze’s brushing

one blossom succinctly separates as

an iridescent shimmer

to hum and hover before memory’s freeze

zinnias

once small seeds separated beneath earth

now raised to face fond friends

as held hearts

gilded gold, pearled pink

queen lime’s chartreuses

each scarlet centered

drawing dwarfish eyes

each glorious great lake summer

just outside mother’s planted pale-bricked porch

a beauty to behold

as a tower

as a maiden

with long rapturous locks let loose

rarely seen

feathers turned against sun’s rays

nectar sucked center turned heavenward

to glimmer

a glance

a glimpse

the two together

both hummingbird and zinnia bloom
